2011 Sundance Film Festival

The 2011 Sundance Film Festival played host to a talented new crop of young actors, a record 78 film sales, and an all-new Documentary Premieres category, showcasing the work of established masters of the craft. Twenty-five first-time filmmakers comprised the Dramatic and Documentary Competitions, a line-up which included award-winners Like Crazy, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Being Elmo, and How to Die in Oregon. Directors Drake Doremus and Sean Durkin and actresses Elizabeth Olsen, Felicity Jones, and Brit Marling together formed the face of the 2011 Festival and led yet another class of burgeoning independent artists. An eclectic Off-Screen program included moderated panels, roundtable discussions, and musical performances featuring such diverse talents as Michael Moore, Vera Farmiga, Norman Lear, Harry Belafonte and The Chapin Sisters, among many others.

YEARBOOK

Yelp (With Apologies to Allen Ginsberg's "Howl")

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
