The Pool is a haunting and unforgettable visual journey into the obscure relationship between the body and fantasy. The animation style of The Stain weaves a blackly comic tale of strange family intrigues, while' Possession uses animation intercut with live-action footage to construct a Freudian story of lewd perversity. Caught Looking employs a virtual reality computer to chart the experiences of one man's odyssey into his own voyeuristic sexual fantasies. Both comic and sad, the film is an excellent comment on the post-AIDS gay psyche. Truly a trim for the 1990s, Floating is a tense mix of working-class realism, surrealist wit and messianic panic Set against London's urban blight, a father's life collapses both physically and psychically under the impact of a voice from above.
