The Gift

Director: Gary Farmer

Institute History

Description

The first two experimental shorts in this program are innovative blends of traditional and modern dance. In The Gift, the relationship between the Iroquois and the ancient grass nurtured into corn by the Mayans is portrayed by two dance pieces choreographed and performed by Santee Smith. The music is performed by the Native a cappella trio Ulali.
