Description
Set in 1958 in the rich, rolling countryside of Virginia, Zelly and Me is the moving story of Phoebe (Alexandria Jones), a young orphan sturggling for her own soul. Caught between the jealous, possessive love of her grandmother Coco (Glynis Johns) and the nurturing, unconditional love of her governess Zelly (Isabella Rossellini), Phoebe finds that she must learn to hear and speak her own inner truths, to accept whatever love is offered, and to reject the pain that often accompanies it.
Written and directed by Tina Rathborne, Zelly and Me is deeply moving and beautifully acted portrait of childhood pain and, finally, triumph. Blue Velvet director David Lynch co-stars as a suitor/chauffeur, playing the role with a wholesomeness that belies expectations.
