Description

hitRECord is an online collaborative production company founded by actor/director Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his brother “Burning Dan.” The enterprise brings them together with creative people from around the world to work collaboratively on projects. Gordon-Levitt has been innovative with the movie-making business model by allowing all related collaborators on a project to get paid if the work sells. In their first year, Joseph and Dan sent out $50,000 worth of checks to hitRECord’s contributors. The company site now hosts more than 300,000 members and pulls in more than 5,000 videos, songs, texts, and pieces of artwork daily, while 500 new artists regularly join hitRECord each day.

hitRECord launched at the 2010 edition of New Frontier and has since established a constellation of short films, books, and DVDs, as well as traveling, interactive stage shows—one of which was featured at the 2012 Festival—designed to bring hitRECorders under one roof, recording and remixing the live event.

Ever changing and growing, Joseph Gordon-Levitt returns to the Sundance Film Festival with the project’s latest culmination, HITRECORD ON TV. Be there to see the first three episodes of this groundbreaking show with the crew that creates it.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
