In Data We Trust?

Friday, January 20, 2:30 p.m.

Filmmaker Lodge
550 Main St.

The industry’s shift toward data science has led to rapidly evolving, data-driven marketing strategies (from algorithms to social media buys) that present tantalizing new opportunities to reach and shape audiences—but also considerable challenges. How can independent producers and artists better understand and access big data? Are we buying into data without insight? Join Amy Emmerich (CCO, Refinery 29), Peter Muzzonigro (co-founder, Operam), Aminatou Sow (co-founder, Tech LadyMafia), producer Jay Van Hoy (American Honey, The Witch), media scholar Tim Wu ( The Attention Merchants), moderator Lauren Zalaznick and others in conversation.

Panels are open to all Festival credential holders on a space-available basis.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
