Video Games: The Plot Thickens

Writer seeks missing wife. Cowboy settles a score. Adventurer hunts lost treasure. All are plots of standout video games. The stories are realized in visually rich worlds that draw liberally from a variety of cinematic references. This panel takes a look at recent successes in game narrative and character development in addition to exploring other modes of approaching stories as experiences. It’s not so much about writing a story as it is about designing one. Moderated by -b-Michelle Byrd-/b-, co-president of Games for Change, and featuring writer -b-Mikko Rautalahti-/b- (ALAN WAKE), writer & designer-b- Neil Druckmann-/b- (UNCHARTED: DRAKE'S FORTUNE, UNCHARTED: AMONG THIEVES), and -b-Nick Fortugno-/b-, CCO/co-founder of Playmatics.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
