Sundance Institute Short Film Challenge

This FREE short film screening event marks the launch of a new
project by Sundance Institute and the Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation to harness the power of independent films and create a
global conversation about imaginative solutions to the challenges
of extreme hunger and poverty. Launched in early 2014, this unique
project has begun a worldwide call-for-entries where five everyday
storytellers will win $10,000 USD and premiere their films at the
2015 Sundance Film Festival.

Enjoy the international premiere of five new short works in
documentary and fiction by Award-Winning Sundance Institute
Alumni Filmmakers Megan Mylan, Tod Lending, Jeff Reichert,
Farihah Zaman, Hank Willis Thomas, Chris Myers and Ritesh Batra.
Special Q&A with artist and filmmaker Hank Willis Thomas to follow,
moderated by Sundance Institute staff.

If you wish to attend this event request a ticket from The O2 Box
Office during the festival. The screening will be filled on a first
come first serve basis.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
