Description

F/X (shorthand for “special effects”) is a first-rate thriller in which a special effect wizard, Rollie Tyler (Bryan Brown from Breaker Morant), is hired to fake the assassination of a gangland mobster. But the mobster is suddenly killed and Tyler double-crossed, becomes the prime suspect in the murder. Thrust from the world of artifice into one of real violence, Tyler is on the run and must use his “f/x” wits and skills to save his life. Not on his trail is streetwise cop, Leo McCarthy (Brian Dennehy from Cocoon). He too enters the Chinese box of double cross-crosses, fake and real deaths and incredible disguises.

F/X is a surprisingly clever suspense film bound to satisfy regular movie goers in its twists and turns, special effects hounds, plus those who’ve come to address the past work of director Robert Mandel (Independence Day), cinematographer, Miroslav Ondricek (Amadeus) and actors Brown and Dennehy.
