Description

Emoh Ruo (Our Home spelled backwards) is a fresh, quirky new comedy about a young couple who buy their first “dream” house in a distant Australian suburb. The frustrations of beach-bum caravan living finally catch up with Des and Terri. They decide, against his better judgment, to buy a house through a suspiciously cooperative finance agency. Predictably, everything goes wrong—the house is cheaply built; Des must get up at 4:00 am to get to work; their son, Jack, has no one to play with; and their only neighbors are noisy bigots. When Des loses his driver’s license after being booked for drunk driving, things go hilariously downhill even further.

Emoh Ruo is played with broad humor and deft comic timing. Beyond hearty chuckles for all audiences, it will certainly be remembered for introducing several fresh new actors to the screen—Joy Smithers as Terri; Martin Sacks as Des; Jack Ellis, a natural child actor, as their son; and, in particular, Philip quest is Des’s go-getting brother, a tire-salesman (“Rubber Talks!”) always on the make.
