Description
We’ve all heard of murderous computers since Kubrick’s 2001. But a killer elevator??? Take the stairs!!! Like the films represented in the “Roger Corman and His Prodigies” sidecar, The Lift goes far beyond its generic restrictions to become a campy and cult short-on-gore, long-on-laughs horror film. A killer elevator with a mind of its own tricks and lures victims into its door—but it also “knows” how to behave when being inspected. Felix, a down-to-earth maintenance man, and his journalist companion discover that their elevator is actually under the control of a Japanese computer. In his myopic quest to destroy the killer lift, Felix must face it in final battle. Relatively new on the international scene, Dutch cinema seems to have unusual diversity, a fact confirmed by this very enjoyable oddity.
