Description

This scenario, based on a short story by August Strindberg, takes place in Northern Europe at the end of the 15th century.

A beginner artist, who still hesitates on his newly-chosen vocation, is asked by monks to paint the Annunciation for this monastery's chapel.

The young man takes up the challenge, but runs into a problem on an essential part of the work: the Virgin Mary's face. Impossible to give the Saint a convincing expression of grace and purity.

The monks, despairing, decide to call upon an experienced Italian artist, even if they must pay a huge price.

The arrival of the quattrocento artist, a refined and forever-curious freethinker who exercises a perfect mastery of his profession, shakes up the artistic life our our young novice . . .
