Tim Blevins is a Juilliard trained opera singer who has performed principal roles in some of the most prestigious opera houses in the world, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Chicago Lyric Opera and the Stuttgart State Theatre in Germany. For the last 8 years, however, Tim has lived on and off the streets of San Francisco, surviving day to day as a busker and short con street hustler in the Tenderloin. Though Tim’s past as a classically trained musician seems to be at odds with his present day life — for Tim, the street and stage have much in common. The Impossible Dream follows Tim as he recalls, and at times relives, the characters that he once played on stage, retelling the story of his rise and eventual demise as an opera singer, husband and father. As Tim’s past catches up to the present, the costs of his lifestyle become all too real, and Tim is forced to decide how he will end the tragic opera that he has brought into reality.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
