Description

In 2026 the Mideast was devastated by nuclear war. The rest of the world moved on. One hundred years later, Earth is run by massive government/corporations, and criminals are exiled to the Mideast Wastes...One such exile, an assassin called Pilgrim, is dumped from a helicopter with other prisoners and must fight for his life. Left for dead, he is rescued by a Bedouin tribe - locals who outlasted the devastation and eke out an existence in the Wastes. Pilgrim is drawn into their lives, and the plight of a beautiful young widow with a dark secret (Ayesha). He is tasked with protecting her on a journey across the desert to the coastal fortress of Kafara. As they struggle to survive the elements, they are hunted by a dangerous woman from Pilgrim’s past, hell bent on seeking vengeance against him. Pilgrim and Ayesha arrive in Kafara and learn that the town is controlled by ruthless dictator William Pierce, also a former assassin - and the reason Ayesha’s life is in danger. In the end, Pilgrim must either sacrifice Ayesha, or everything he believes to save her...but in a lawless land, fraught with danger and deception, nothing is quite as it seems.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
