Are We All the Other: Transcending Boundaries in Storytelling

Wednesday, January 25, 2:00 p.m.

Filmmaker Lodge
550 Main St.

What does it mean to cross into another culture and tell a story outside of your direct experience? What are the unique creative challenges and opportunities for film artists working in this way? An immensely talented group—including Maggie Betts (Novitiate), Geremy Jasper (Patti Cake$), Amanda Lipitz (STEP), Lucy Walker (Untitled Buena Vista Social Club Documentary), and Nina Yang Bongiovi (Roxanne Roxanne), discusses traversing boundaries of genre, gender, race, and class in creating their work. Presented by Women at Sundance and the Sundance Institute Diversity Initiatives.

Panels are open to all Festival credential holders on a space-available basis.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
