The Art of Film Music

Saturday, 26 April 12:15 PM

What goes into a successful film score? What is the ideal way for directors and composers to interact? What are some of the many roles music can play a part in the filmmaking process?

How can music enhance (or ruin) a movie? These and other questions related to the intersection of film and music will be discussed by two leading practitioners.

Join us in a lively discussion with Alex Heffes (Last King of Scotland, Red Riding Hood, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) and Javier Navarrete (Pan's Labyrinth, Wrath of the Titans, The Sea, Byzantium), moderated by Director of the Sundance Film Music Program, Peter Golub (Frozen River, The Great Debaters, The Laramie Project).

Co-presented with British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
