Behind the Camera: Where Diversity Begins

Sunday, January 21 4:30–6:00 p.m.

Filmmaker Lodge, 550 Main St., second floor

The recent Storytelling Unbound research from Univision Communications shows that the need for more inclusive entertainment is a top-five concern for young audiences today. And one way to increase diversity in front of the camera is to hire diversity behind it. In this panel, moderated by Fusion TV’s Kimberly Brooks, we’ll hear from content creators on what practices are helping storytelling keep up with the changing tastes of America and setting the industry up for future fans. Panelists: Camila Jimenez Villa, co-president and chief creative officer of Fusion Media Group; Mynette Louie, producer and president of Gamechanger Films; Adrian Molina, co-director of Pixar’s Golden Globe-winner Coco; Ashley Judd; and Darnell Strom.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
