Festival Village Presented by Acura – Brian Thurber Band

Brian Thurber is a multi-instrumentalist born and raised in Salt Lake City, performing professionally since the age of 14. Pursuing an interest in jazz drumming Brian set out to New York City at the age of 20 to study with the greats and be immersed in the NYC jazz scene. Upon returning to SLC, Brian set his sights upon the art of song writing. Influenced heavily by the sounds of his childhood artists such as, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan and more recent artists Ray Lamontagne and The Wood Brothers. Brian still considers himself to be "cutting his teeth" as a songwriter but has enjoyed an overwhelmingly warm response to his move from behind the drum kit to front man.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
