The good news is independent films enjoy a wider audiences than ever. The bad news is growing fragmentation in the Independent cinema audience requires that filmmakers be increasingly savvy about marketing and distributing their films. Are audiences getting older, and if so, how can younger audiences be recruited? Does today’s proliferation of films auger more “high concept, low budget” films in the future? What strategies can a filmmaker employ to identify specialized audiences?
