#PowerOfStory
Saturday, January 26, 2:30 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
Egyptian Theatre, 328 Main St.
Ticket required
Bolstered by the breathtaking palate of emerging media, visionary artists are deviating from forms and norms and reinventing storytelling as we know it. In looking at the tantalizing futurescape of story (encompassing visual arts; virtual, augmented, and mixed realities; immersive theatrical experiences; social art practices; and forms we haven’t yet contemplated), we explore a range of inspirations, the changing nature of artistic discovery, the necessity of invention, and how culture stands to be dramatically reshaped by revolutionary, new narrative experiences. Terence Nance (As Told To G/D Thyself, Random Acts of Flyness), Reggie Watts (Runnin’, Waves), John Gaeta (senior vice president of creative strategy, Magic Leap), Stephanie Dinkins (Not the Only One), and Sarah Ellis (The Seven Ages of Man; director of digital development, Royal Shakespeare Company) explore the value of independence and an artist’s imperative.
