Women Hold Up Half the Sky

Saturday, January 25, 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
Kimball Art Center, 1401 Kearns Blvd.

Women hold up half the sky, as the saying goes in China. In film and entertainment, we are seeing a surge of successful women in front of and behind the camera. They are boldly blazing the path forward—for all of us—by sharing their inspiring, sometimes gut-wrenching, and empowering stories. Academy governor-at-large and executive producer of The Joy Luck Club Janet Yang will moderate a candid conversation with producer Nina Yang Bongiovi (Fruitvale Station and Roxanne, Roxanne), producer Mynette Louie (I Carry You With Me), co-founder of Game Changer 2.0 Naja Lockwood, writer and director Edson Oda (Nine Days), actor Benedict Wong (Nine Days, The Martian, and Avengers: Endgame), director and producer Bao Nguyen (Be Water), actor Daniel Dae Kim (BLAST BEAT, Always Be My Maybe, Hellboy), and actor Chris Pang (Palm Springs, Crazy Rich Asians).

Presented by Asia Society Northern California, Asia Society Southern California, and Elkes Foundation

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
