Lawrence Thorpe, vice-president of acquisitions systems marketing for the Sony Electronics Company, will illustrate the use of Sony's digital cameras. He will discuss the current trends in digital electronics cinematography and demonstrate a range of equipment from the high-end DVW-700, the Digital Betacam widescreen camcorder, to the latest consumer DCR-VXl 000 digital camcorder. Thorpe will analyze the impact these new technologies are having on the independent filmmaking community and explain how to transfer digitally originated video to 35 mm film by electron beam recording.
