Sundance Theatre Songbook

Innovative musicals ranging from Adam Guettel’s The Light in the Piazza to Scott Frankel and Michael Korie’s Grey Gardens to Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater’s Spring Awakening have been developed through Sundance Institute’s Theatre Program, which supports artists as they shape their work first on the page and finally onstage with actors and musicians. In keeping with the Institute’s commitment to championing new work, the Sundance Theatre Songbook presents new or rarely heard works from twelve composer/lyricist teams as performed by some of the greatest talent from Broadway and off-Broadway stages. Audiences will be among the first to experience the work of a new generation of theater musicians supported by the Institute over the past decade.

COMPOSERS & LYRICISTS
Mark Bennett, Mark Campbell, Kirsten Childs, Scott Frankel, Michael Friedman, Jenny Giering, Ricky Ian Gordon, Michael Korie, Andrew Lippa, Steven Lutvak, Steven Sater, Duncan Sheik, Michael Torke, and Stewart Wallace.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
