Shining a Light on Web Series Talent

One creative team decides to produce a documentary each month…for a year. Another shoots vivid portraits of modern California. A third offers a fable that posits dancing as a superpower. The resulting web series are gems, buried among myriad videos of piano-playing cats. This panel explores the development of each project, including the idiosyncrasies of the web-series format and the dollars and cents that go into making them happen. Moderated by -b-Mark Friedlander-/b-, national director of new media for SAG and featuring filmmakers -b-Alex Jablonski-/b- from -i-Sparrow Songs-/i-, -b-Drea Cooper-/b- from -i-California Is a Place-/i-, -b-Alice Brooks-/b- from -i-The LXD: The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers,-/i- plus -b-Claire Aguilar-/b-, VP of programming at ITVS and curator of -i-Futurestates-/i-.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
