Film Forward: Jordan (Amman, Madaba, Karak, Salt, Al Zarqa, and Sahab)

FILM FORWARD partners with the US Embassy in Jordan and the Royal Film Commission for the first year in Jordan. Filmmakers Laura Nix (Director, The Light In Her Eyes) and Ligiah Villalobos (Screenwriter and Executive Producer, Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna)) will accompany the program for a week of screenings, discussions, and workshops in Amman, Madaba, Karak, Salt, and other surrounding cities. Events will take place at universities, cultural centers, and the Rainbow Theater.

The Light In Her Eyes documents the story of Houda al-Habash, a conservative woman preacher in Damascus, Syria, who challenges the women of her community to live according to Islam without giving up their dreams. Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna) tells the story of the unbreakable bond between mother and child even across thousands of miles as little Carlitos embarks on an extraordinary journey to find his mother.

Other films that will be screening with this program but without filmmaker representatives are: Beasts of the Southern Wild, Bones Brigade: An Autobiography, Chasing Ice, The Loving Story, Town of Runners, and Valley of Saints.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
