Jan 27 Dolby Presents: Last Days in the Desert – The Art of Sound Design & Music

Tueday, January 27, 2015
3:00 p.m.–4:30 p.m.
Microcinema, New Frontier

In Last Days in the Desert Ewan McGregor plays a holy man journeying through the desert whose encounter with a family struggling to survive in the harsh environment forces him to confront his own fate. The desert is a fully realized character in the film, and you are invited to join writer/director Rodrigo Garcia, composers Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans, and sound designers/mixers Justin Davey & Zach Seivers for a discussion of how music and sound design contributed to building an immersive experience for the audience on this amazing journey. Last Days is the winner of the Dolby Family Sound Fellowship for innovative use of sound and will be presented in the Eccles Theater in Dolby Atmos. The discussion will be moderated by Glenn Kiser, Director of the Dolby Institute.

As you use our Online Archives, please understand that the information presented from Festivals, Labs, and other activities is taken directly from official publications from each year. While this information is limited and doesn't necessarily represent the full list of participants (e.g. actors and crew), it is the list given to us by the main film/play/project contact at the time, based on the space restrictions of our publications. Each entry in the Online Archives is meant as a historical record of a particular film, play, or project at the time of its involvement with Sundance Institute. For this reason, we can only amend an entry if a name is misspelled, or if the entry does not correctly reflect the original publication.
