Description
Vladimir and Natalia, a couple in their forties, have two children, Sonia and Pavel. Vladimir is an astronaut and he has to leave for a three-month mission. During his absence, Natalia has to face up to the problems of everyday life: Sonia leaves home for a man who is "too rich to be honest", Pavel turns out to be homosexual and Natalia takes a lover to make up for her husband's absence.
During this time the USSR is on the move: Gorbachov is removed from office and replaced by Yeltsin, communism is coming to an end . . . and no one is bothering with the astronauts . . . When he comes back to earth, Vladimir's family and country have been transformed. But Natalia comes back to him in the end, for "You can't cross out a life with a stroke of a pen".
